Welcome to the heat!

Click Here to view the video! It’s summer time and I am so lucky that I get to spend it singing some of my absolute favorite music in all of my repertoire!  So it feels like Christmas came early this year.

LUCIA in Madrid has been a phenomenal experience, and a major success for all involved in this production.  Hope you can watch the broadcast on July 7th at  9:30 pm, CET!  It will be live on Facebook, and also on Palco Digital and Operavision.

Soon after, I head to Pesaro to make my debut at the illustrious Rossini Opera Festival as ADINA in Rossini’s one act comic opera.  The bonus for me is that I will also be doing a concert of some of my favorite arias, at the Teatro Rossini on August 14th.

Then I head to the magical city of Venice to make my debut at Teatro La Fenice as Violetta in LA TRAVIATA, in Robert Carsen’s production, with the premiere on August 25th.

August 26th, I’ll pop over to Verona to participate in their Verdi Opera Night, singing the 2nd act of RIGOLETTO.

Hope you can join us in one of these amazing places, and enjoy a true Italian Opera summer like no other!

LA Opera’s “Rigoletto” Has Great Tunes, Fanciful Costumes and Sizzling Hot Voices May 22, 2018

American soprano Lisette Oropesa gave the finest singing of the evening as Gilda, a hopeless romantic-turned-hero who gave her life for her unfaithful lover.  Splendid in her lyrical outpourings in duets with the Duke and Rigoletto, Ms. Oropesa had plenty of vocal glamour that could turn from silver into steel at the drop of a hat.  Ms. Oropesa’s singing offered an object lesson in the fine art of bel canto.  “Caro nome” featured some meltingly beautiful lines and and perfectly-turned trills, and those ravishing pianissimo high notes in the final duet were to die for, literally.

Reflections

Every time I sing an opera I feel like it is my favorite, and that composer is my favorite, and the place that I’m in is my home.  I then find that the more I travel, the more I start to feel homesick for all the stunning places I have gotten to visit and spend time in.

One of the things people often ask me is where my home base is, and I have a hard time answering, because every place I have ever been to has contributed something sacred to my being.  Even places that I have not sung a note in, like the parks that I have hiked in, or the paths I have followed in the wilderness…each one has imprinted its signature on my heart, and I feel like there is a part of me that will forever be bound to that place.

This life feels like such a privilege when I think of all the blessings that continue to grace my life, and when I absorb the beauty of every place I go to.  There is something spiritual in the life of the traveler, and with every passing year, it becomes a deeper part of me.

I am eternally grateful for this gift.
