Lisette Oropesa singing Norma at the Savonlinna Opera Festival

Onda Madrid: "Madrid Directo"

Lisette was the subject of the opera segment on Nieves Herrero's Madrid Directo, in a conversation between host Nieves Herrero and opera critic Nacho Fresno of Shangay. The segment traced her ties to the Teatro Real — from her Metropolitan Opera-born Manon to her acclaimed Maria Stuarda and the celebrated 2020 reopening-night Traviata encore — before turning to her return next season as Bellini's Norma, opposite Javier Camarena and Aigul Akhmetshina. Lisette sent in a recorded message for listeners, previewing the role.

"Quiero mandarles este mensaje para decirles cuánto me alegro de poder cantar por primera vez en producción, en el Teatro Real aquí en Madrid, el papel de Norma, de Bellini. Que es un papel grandísimo, espectacular, que tiene muchísima música para soprano, pero también mucha música de canto estupendo. Dúos magníficos, arias estupendas, coros también sublimes."

In English:

"I want to send you this message to tell you how happy I am to be able to sing, for the first time in a staged production, at the Teatro Real here in Madrid, the role of Norma, by Bellini. It's a huge, spectacular role, with an enormous amount of music for the soprano, but also a lot of wonderful singing. Magnificent duets, gorgeous arias, sublime choruses too."

Lisette debuts the role in concert this summer in Finland before her first staged performances at the Teatro Real, opening April 9, 2027 and running through April 30.
